11 Remedies And Cures For Excessive Hair Growth In Women

Hirsutism in women is an undesired phenomenon. Hirsutism is different from virilization. Hirsutism is a result of mild male hormonal presence in women but virilization includes development of major masculine features. There are two types of hair; vellus hair which is short, non-pigmented hair that does not have any relation to hormones and terminal hair which depends on the hormones every one is born with.

If a woman has a lot of hair on her hands and legs it is due to her hormones as she was born with it. But excess androgen hormones make the terminal hair thicker and heavier. Sometimes they can convert the vellus hair to become terminal hair. Once this happens then no medical treatment can get it fixed.

Some of the expensive treatments available are:

1.  Removal of the pilosebaeous unit by dilapatory creams
2.  Electrolis
3.  Or Laser heating can stop the excess growth of hair
4.  Doctors check the blood levels of testosterone and the adrenal source of excess androgens to reduce the   available androgens in the blood.
5.  If a tumor of the ovary or adrenal gland is found then surgically removing it might fix the problem.
6.  Vaniqa is a cream applied twice a day to the skin to reduce the unwanted facial hair. It deactivates an enzyme found in the root of the hair follicle which is responsible for the hair growth.
7.  Pharmacological treatment techniques are aimed at blocking or suppressing the androgen action at the hair follicle

Some of the temporary techniques widely popular to remove the excess hair are:

8.  Shaving is one of the most popular techniques used to remove hair but it only cuts the hair from the surface of the skin letting it grow again.
9.  Waxing is another popular method which removes the hair but for a short period of time longer than what shaving might offer you. But it is a very painful method and it also allows the growth of the ingrown hair.
10. Hair removing Creams are widely available in the market but again it only removes the hair from the surface of the skin.
11. Bleaching is a process of camouflaging the hair with the skin color. But the chemicals used might harm if the skin is sensitive.
